Online Education: Five Ws and One H
Online education has been a buzzword lately. From massive open online courses (MOOCs) to an ambitious statement of universities going entirely digital in 36 months, there is much debate about the future face of a university. Several top-ranking universities have begun to offer their courses online for free with MOOCs, which could support more than 100,000 students at a time. Online platforms like Coursera host free courses by partnering with prestigious universities (eg. Harvard, Stanford) to provide world-wide access to courses taught by their instructors. This approach to education was coined as “the single most important experiment in higher education” for bringing elite education to the masses.
