It was unusually quiet and empty outside This Ain’t Hollywood at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.
But inside the James Street North bar, the stage was being set for another night of music and bands.
Same old, same old, except for one thing — a 10-foot standup banner that said “Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton.”
It was a fundraiser organized by bloggers at I Heart Hamilton Tour.
Called Playlist 1.0, the event featured four local bands.
“We wanted to reflect a sense of community in Hamilton. That’s why we chose the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton for this fundraiser, because of the work they do in the community,” said Kristin Archer, one of the four founders and contributors to the I Heart Hamilton Tour blog.
The blog believes you should be a tourist in your own city. It covers arts, culture, and lifestyle, with posts about local bands, restaurants, and upcoming community events. The four founders are recent McMaster graduates and were raised in Hamilton.
Audiences got a taste of local band music with Canadian Winter, New Hands, The Ascot Royals, and The Dinner Belles showcasing their talents on stage.
